Teeth Grinding

Teeth grinding and jaw clenching (also known as bruxism) is a common problem that often happens during sleep, while concentrating or under stress. Most people who grind their teeth or clench their jaw are not aware they are doing it. Common symptoms include headaches, ear pain, pain and stiffness in the jaw (temporomandibular joint), wearing of the teeth, increased tooth sensitivity and broken teeth. Frequent grinding and clenching results in the enlargement of the masseter muscles, the main muscles involved in teeth grinding and clenching. The masseters sits over the jaw and can be felt when clenching the back teeth. Botulinum toxin or ‘Botox’ injections can be used to safely and effectively weaken the masseter muscle, reduce teeth grinding and jaw clenching, thereby improving associated symptoms.

How long does Anti Wrinkle Injections last?

The effect lasts between four to six months and can be repeated when needed. As the muscles are retrained and weaken from disuse, most people require less frequent treatments.

Excess Sweating

Excess sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, is a condition where sweat glands are over-active. The body normally sweats to regulate body temperature. In hyperhidrosis, however, the sweating is unnecessary and can be embarrassing. The most common areas affected are the scalp, forehead, underarms, hands and feet.

Botulinum toxin works by relaxing the muscles of the sweat gland in order reduce the production and secretion of sweat. Botulinum toxin has been used in medical treatments for over 4 decades and was first approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of wrinkles in 1989. It is now one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the world.

Nefertiti Neck Lift & Platysmal Bands

Ageing around the jawline and the neck are the main reasons why some women look older than they actually are. Over time loss of muscle tone, skin fat and gravitational pull lead to the appearance of the famous ‘turkey neck’. The contour of the jawline disappears and platysmal bands look more prominent. What can be done? Small diluted concentrations of an anti-wrinkle product can be injected into this muscle at various points across the platysmal bands and beneath the jawline, relaxing this muscle and causing unopposed pull from the musculature above and hence a mini non-surgical facelift. The procedure ‘Nefertiti Lift’ was named after the Egyptian queen Nefertiti for her sharp jawline, and is highly regarded as a sign of ‘attractivity’.
